Hotels in Yiwu, China for Business TravelersNovember 12, 2007 There are plenty of hotels in Yiwu for business travelers. There are some upscale choices, with prices above 400 RMB / night. Since few people visit the city for vacation, this review will focus on people doing business in Yiwu. Two national chains, Motel 168 and Han Ting, have branches near the old train station. This comparison was made in November 2007.
The two hotels are both fine, but Han Ting seems like a better choice for value, especially if you don't speak Chinese. Both are about a 30 RMB (12 km) cab ride from the new train station. Alternatively, long-distance buses from Shanghai park literally in front of the Motel 168. Within a few minutes' walk from the old train station there are a few restaurants and bars for foreigners, including "The Caucasian Restaurant." The name refers to the mountain range, not the race. Also nearby is the Garden of the Dutiful Son, a peaceful place for a rest if you get overwhelmed by the sights and sounds of the markets. On the other hand, if you just can't get enough shopping, there is a night market nearby which serves mostly the local people. The old train station area is quite run down and poor looking, but safe enough. Rose gardens all around the front of the station add a striking bit of beauty to this rough area.
